
Western Australia is now more than 4,500 homes behind its housing target as dwelling completions continue to slow, according to The West Australian. Latest data shows WA recorded just 5,150 home completions in the September quarter, the lowest quarterly result since the National Housing Accord was agreed, marking the third consecutive decline in completions.

The shortfall comes amid strong demand in Perth’s housing market and ongoing constraints including labour shortages, rising construction costs and limited delivery of infill housing such as townhouses and apartments. Industry groups have warned that without faster delivery, housing affordability pressures will continue to intensify.
These conditions highlight the growing relevance of modular and offsite housing as a way to accelerate delivery where traditional construction is struggling to keep pace. In this context, AUSMOD20K, which targets the delivery of 20,000 affordable modular homes across Australia, aligns with the challenge identified in WA by supporting scalable, factory-based housing solutions capable of lifting completion rates in high-pressure markets.
